As far as Octair is concerned, he’s just a puppet dancing on its strings. Nothing has ever gone his way since the moment of his birth. But then, that wouldn’t surprise anyone born to a world decaying from a material darkness, a darkness that has almost extinguished all of life. Since birth, Octair has struggled against the end of the world and the end of life as humans would know it, and his struggle hasn’t gone well. When he and his followers discover a way to end the blight of darkness for good, even at the cost of their lives and the small chance it would work, they take it. Now Octair finds himself, alone, in a world without any darkness to speak of, and things are suddenly going well for him. New friends, new life, and even a place he could call home. Just as he begins to enjoy life, as he never had before, the darkness appears once again to ravage this new world and his new home. Now he truly realizes the importance of saving the world, and he means to do just that.
